This rare and important model #VK-2060 sculptural 'Walnut Pedestal Dining Table' by Vladimir Kagan for Kagan-Dreyfuss was designed and produced in the 1950s, during Kagan's partnership with Hugo Dreyfuss which ended in 1960 making signed items during this era some of the most sought-after pieces for art and design collectors and investors. This rare example is stamped with the Kagan-Dreyfuss branded marks on the underside of the table and leaves, and serves as an important early example of this sought-after design.

This sculptural pedestal table features a unique yet signature-Kagan sculptured base which flowers into the extendable table top that when extended reveals drop-legs which later fold back up into the top when closed. A unique visual attribute of the top is that both leaves intentionally have opposite facing grain from the table top. When viewing the table from certain angles - the color appears to be darker yet from other angles it blends into the same color (see photos). Truly spectacular in-person.

This Model VK-2060, described in Kagan's early catalogues as a 'Walnut Pedestal Dining Table' (model #206 is the round version of this oval example model #2060, which is shown in the catalogue photo included in this listing), is signed both on the underside of the dining table and the leaf and has been freshly restored in an exquisite thick French Polish which accentuates the wood grain and protects it against regular daily use. This table is ideal for the collector who wants the best of the best or the interior designer with a hard-to-please client.

Ultra refinement and class in this piece which extends from a dining or card / game table seating for four, to a larger dining or meeting table suitable for eight. The extension leaves which secures to the table with high quality brass clamps underneath is also stamped with the Kagan-Dreyfuss stamp which reads Kagan-Dreyfuss New York, A Vladimir Kagan Design.

Gorgeous sculpted legs in solid walnut - the signature touch of Vladimir Kagan - along with a magnificent vivid-grained top. Quality of materials and craftsmanship you don't find in todays products - this table is the epitome of the saying 'they don't make them like they used to'.

Consider using this Vladimir Kagan for Kagan-Drefyuss sculpted walnut extension pedestal table for a breakfast nook, cafe room, game table, den, library, wine cellar, tasting room, entryway as a center table with or without chairs, or in a commercial space such as a boutique hotel, creative studio or retail store. Interior designers, get this set for your most discriminating collector client before your competition does. This table is an important part of history, and a rare piece which includes every detail a true collector desires.
