This, often attributed to Jorge Zalszupin, Jacaranda rosewood and leather lounge chair was produced in the mid to late 1960s in Brazil by J.D Moveis, a producer of high-quality and small-batch artisan furniture (see last photo). We recently sourced this chair from Rio, crated them over to our shop in Los Angeles, and then fully restored the incredible club chairs utilizing all of the original Rosewood parts and original hardware, with new leather for the cushions. Now, these are ready for the most demanding client or discriminating collector. Ideal for someone who wants what others don't have.

This highly rare and sought after club lounge chair utilized similar technology as Eames with Herman Miller in bending wood to create unique and intriguing designs. The Jacaranda Rosewood frame use this bentwood methodology along with an extraordinary skeleton style slatted back, creating something completely unique and never-seen before. This bone style design is similar and in contrast to designs by Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler which were from the same era and locale. And if you ask us, this chair possess the best parts of both Hauner & Eisler's style of design, plus Zalszupin's. The combination of folded Jacaranda is similar to Zalszupin's 'Petalas' table design alongside the wood slats of the 'Costela' chair by Hauner & Eisler. Best of both worlds and would pair excellent with a Petalas table and/or a Sergio Rodrigues 'Tonico' sofa, contact us for our current stock of these if you are interested in creating a set. Four solid Brazilian Rosewood hexagonal shaped legs support the frame. Incredible grain detail and character in these wildly coveted and extremely rare armchair - making this the perfect choice for the most discriminating collector to the interior designer looking for a magazine-cover-worthy room.

This Brazilian Modern club chair would work great in a Mid-Century Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary, Hollywood Regency or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Being highly durable, this set of armchairs would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
