This incredibly rare and sought-after 'Kashima' sectional sofa set by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, France, was designed in 1976. Upholstered in soft and sumptuous tan colored leather, this living room set is comprised of a lounge chair and ottoman, and two loveseat sofas one with an arm on one side and the other armless which can be put together to form a large four seat sofa or as two separate loveseats. This set is an early production year example, signed with 1970s Ligne Roset labels on the backs and early year Ligne Roset logo fabric on the underside of each piece.

So many reasons to choose this sofa, let's start with rarity and collectibility. Unlike the Togo series, another one of Michel's designs, which were mass produced from its initial production run to this very day, the Kashima series was only designed for a short time in smaller batches and is no longer in production. While Togo's are easily available to purchase new from Ligne Roset and vintage examples are also plentiful on the open market, the Kashima line is incredibly rare to find, especially as a large set in good condition like this one. There is no wonder this is one of the most sought after designs for Modern art and design collectors and investors.

Comfort is another reason to buy this set - that is, while it is still available. Designed to mimic floating clouds, the square stitched and tufted leather over foam and deep seated design is the ultimate in comfortability. Sit, lay down, stretch out, nap, watch TV, read a book, enjoy a drink with a friend, no matter what you're doing - you'll be doing it in pure comfort.

No matter your reason for buying this sectional sofa and club chair set, one thing is certain - you will be the only one amongst your friends and family with this rare and prized collectors piece. When your friends all flaunt their Togo sofas, show them up with this incredible leather Kashima set.

This Kashima couch and fireside chair set in tan leather would work great in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.

CONDITION:
Good vintage condition with light wear and patina along with some minor age marks. There are a few areas of minor craquelure to the leather top-coat which can be touched up prior to shipping. We decided to leave it alone since we have another set in a slightly different color which can be re-dyed to match, so instead of touching up these spots in advance we decided to allow the buyer to decide. Contact us to discuss further. Overall very good early production year examples which present very well, all pieces are sturdy and sound and ready for immediate use.
