Philip Lloyd Powell Walnut, Marble and Ebonized Wood Center Dining Table, 1970s
This gorgeous table, from the estate of Shari Lewis, is an exquisitely crafted custom craftsman pedestal dining table by Phillip Lloyd Powell, 1970s, sculpted from walnut, marble and ebonized wood. Signed underneath on two sections of the table: 'Lewis'.
The sculptural pedestal stem is a mesmerizing array of thick layers of stack laminated walnut in cross sections that display a beautiful pattern, sitting on a marble and ebonized wood base. The top is an inspiring center-out sunburst of walnut with an opposing walnut band with a round lower ebonized band giving this table a complex design that was far ahead of its time. Excellent choice as a center table to show off the early post-modern artistic display of contrasting yet synergetic colors and materials.
This Phillip Lloyd Powell walnut, marble and ebonized wood dining table would work great in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. MEASUREMENTS: H 29.25" x 48" Diameter
CONDITION: Excellent refinished condition. The table was fully restored but still shows some light signs of age as to be expected from vintage items. One small area on the top with prior scuffing which is still slightly visible. Beautiful piece ready for immediate use.
