George Kasparian Leather Wingback Executive Chair, circa 1960
A very rare and impressively proportioned executive wingback chair by George Kasparian. Perfect for the collector who already has everything, this chair is a blend of executive desk chair and throne chair. We corresponded via email with George Kasparian's daughter and confirmed this was the personal chair that George used in his own office. She stated only very few were made making this an extremely rare design.
This commanding large scale chair has an exaggerated wingback which flares out dramatically to form the subtly curved wing back design. The inside of the tufted backrest is upholstered in an olive wool mix fabric which has undertones of yellow and a seat cushion of the same fabric. The curvaceous shell of the chair is upholstered in a contrasting avocado green vinyl, also with undertones of yellow. This choice of material emphasizes the arched silhouette of this lounge chair with its curvilinear back and rounded armrests. The seat both swivels and tilts atop an aluminum four-star base with casters for ease of relocation. There is a lever for making adjustments to the natural tilt position under the seat. An adjustment mechanism allows this chair to be raised or lowered, the maximum adjustment is 2" total.
This grand lounge chair would make an arresting addition to a number of locations, from classic and contemporary homes to elegant executive offices to hip startups. It would also be great in a hospitality, retail or corporate location, such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar front desk, members club, workspace studio, executive office or checkout in a luxe clothing emporium.
