Mahogany Breakfront Cabinet by Paul Frankl for Johnson Furniture, 1940s, Signed
This fantastic 1940s breakfront cabinet was designed by Paul Frankl for Johnson Furniture and retailed by John Stuart. Crafted from Mahogany and newly refinished in a beautiful French Polish which is the highest costing and most laborious finish you can give to your finest furniture. The results are nothing short of spectacular - the smooth and clear finish resembles glass and gives the fine Mahogany wood grain vivid detail. The French Polish visually provides a liquified look that you can sit, look and appreciate for hours and hours and is much more interesting and attractive in person than the photos can provide.
This Frankl Breakfront cabinet features a matching Mahogany hutch with contrasting off-white painted interior and shelves and two large oversized nickel door handles that give this piece such character and charisma. The beauty is in the details, notice how the three upper shelves have Mahogany trim on the front to contrast the rest of the interior? Art Deco inspiration in a Mid-Century Modern design.
This gorgeous Paul Frankl for Johnson Furniture breakfront cabinet would work great in an Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Post-Modern or Mid-Century Modern or Classic Farm House home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern, Danish Modern or Zen / Minimalist room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, or Classical room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Works great as a vitrine display cabinet, sideboard with hutch, breakfront cabinet, or credenza with bookcase.
