An incredible collectors item, this rare early production 'MR' lounge armchair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll International, date stamped Jan 21, 1988 production, with original Knoll International labels to the underside of the seat cushion. An amazing find, as these are highly sought after and rarely found with original labels and in excellent all-original condition.

Brand new with leather, current day Knoll reproductions retail for over $8,000 and new production examples from Knoll lack the desirability and collectibility that collectors and art / design investors seek. This chair is priced less than new Knoll Studio reproductions and is considered an "original" production Knoll International example, perfect for collectors, investors and luxury interior designer clients.

The original straps on this easy chair is sturdy and does not need replacement, often these can get dry and cracked and need to be replaced. This example was well cared for so the grey leather straps are structurally sound. The frame has no issues, just light patina, and is also sturdy and sound. The light gray leather cushions are made from high quality leather as you would expect from Knoll International in the 1980s. As they say "they don't make things like they used to".

Knoll designs have been often copied so we highly suggest only purchasing signed examples. If you are looking at other listings, be sure to ask the dealer if theirs possess labels so you know you are buying the real-thing. Also, the newer production versions with Knoll Studio stamps to the frame are less-desirable for collectors. Be sure to factor this in when making your decision, earlier production examples such as these are typically what collectors seek.

Whether you're a designer seeking a quintessential piece or a collector adding to your modern design collection, these iconic chairs stand the test of time. Perfect for a Mid-Century Modern home or office, but can also work great in a Contemporary, Minimalistic, Postmodern, Chinoiserie, Traditional, Transitional or Mixed-Style room. Can work great with other American Modern designs but also consider mixing with Danish Modern, Scandinavian Modern, Brazilian modern and Italian Modern designs.

Consider for your, or your client's, office, showroom, studio or home - consider using this chair in your living room, den or bedroom - it is quite attractive and comfortable and can be utilized in many different types of room settings. Also consider for commercial or hospitality uses such as a lobby lounge or bar, or executive office or boutique retail store.
