Restored William Hinn Anthropomorphic Dresser, 1950s Sweden, Signed
$0.00
This anthropomorphic William Hinn for Urban Furniture 'Exoskeleton' dresser was originally crafted in the 1950s in Sweden, is stamped (signed) on the back and has partial original label (see photos), and has just completed full restoration. We finished this beautiful dresser in a deep French Polish lacquer - which is an expensive and labor intensive process but the results are nothing short of amazing.
The deep smooth finish from the French Polish gives a liquid-like appearance making the gorgeous wood grain pop like none other. The deep color combined with vibrant walnut wood grain - you would think this was Jacaranda or Cocobolo Rosewood. The French Polish is so thick that this dresser is impervious to regular use so it will continue looking this incredible for many, many years to come.
*Note, we have the matching highboy dresser available in another listing, also shown in the last photo of this listing.
The sculptural design of this dresser features a skeletal like frame which curves into the legs giving the curved drawers a floating appearance, which has prompted dealers to call this line the 'Exoskeleton' collection. Such personality too - the top cabinet of the highboy dresser (see last photo, we have this piece in another listing) has two doors and three interior cubby spaces which appears to be the head of this anthropomorphic piece. The four legs are sculpted like bone which resemble an animal.... or perhaps this is more akin to a robot? Whichever it is, it will surely ignite your creative fluid which is yet another reason to buy this rare and sought-after collectors set before someone else does.
This restored William Hinn for Urban Furniture anthropomorphic 'Exoskeleton' chest of drawers from 1950s Sweden would work great in a mid-century modern, scandinavian or danish modern, or American modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a contemporary, hollywood regency or post-modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a traditional, classical or art deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. This dresser could also work as a credenza, sideboard or buffet cabinet and would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge, members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
