Pair of Vladimir Kagan 'Cubist' Side Chairs in Walnut, c 1967, New York
A beautiful set of Vladimir Kagan model #6724 sled based 'Cubist' chairs, circa 1967 New York. These side chairs feature walnut frames in an angular geometric form.
Designed in 1967, this set presumably very early examples as they have the rare slightly rounded scalloped back vs the flat ones commonly found. It's worth noting that documentation suggests these chairs may have served as prototypes, further enhancing their historical significance. Additionally, they are famously associated with the 'Nobu' nickname, stemming from their prominent use by architect Michael Gabellini at Giorgio Armani's Nobu restaurant in Milan.
