This rare Rosewood and Lucite executive pedestal desk was designed by Poul Nørreklit and produced by Sigurd Hansens Møbelfabrik in Denmark in the 1960s.
Incredible vivid Rosewood grain which was newly refinished in a French Polish lacquer which is thick, clear and hard due to numerous hand applied polished coats. This luxury finish is expensive and laborious but the results are amazing - the thickness and hardness of the clear coat helps to protect against regular daily use, and the glasslike clearness accentuates the vivid Rosewood grain.
Four pull-out drawers with simple chrome pulls and keyholes floating on top of a thick frosted lucite base. This desk design is similar to Bodil Kjær's desk design, clean simple and modern.
This Rosewood and lucite desk by Poul Nørreklit for S.H. Møbelfabrik would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Post-Modern, Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
