Petal' Drinks / Side Table by Richard Schultz for Knoll Associates, Signed
This signed early production 'Petal' drinks table by Richard Schultz for Knoll Associates, designed in 1960, is a favorite amongst Mid-Century Modern collectors and enthusiasts. This side table was refinished and features eight petal sections made from Redwood which each attach to the branch styled steel pronged base. Signed with partially faded Knoll Associates label underneath, 320 Park Ave address on label signifies a production date of circa 1961 to 1968.
Schultz designed the Petal series, with dining, coffee, and side table size variants, which won the design award from Industrial Design Magazine in 1961.
This 'Petals' occasional table by Richard Schultz for Knoll International would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern or Danish modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a contemporary or Postmodern room. Also consider mixing it up in a traditional, transitional, classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
