This gorgeous restored 'S-1' sofa by Brazilian designer Percival Lafer for Lafer MP. This sofa was designed in 1976 and was Lafer's concept of merging Brazilian design with Scandinavian sensibility - the sling seat cushions are made of molded foam carried by a Rosewood frame. Signed with Lafer labels throughout underneath the seat cushions.

This incredible signed collectors sofa is also ideal for interior designers working on high end projects as it was fully restored - Rosewood frame was refinished, the original cognac leather cushions cleaned, conditioned and spot-dyed with color matched leather dye in a few areas that benefited from it.

The S-1 design features Brazilian exoticness paired with Scandinavian sensibility. Of Lafer's designs, the S-1 is a bit more rare to find than some of his more common ones such as the MP-97, MP-41 and MP-25. The frames are more architectural in feel than most of his other designs, perhaps a refinement developed throughout his years of experience in this 1976 design.

This slouchy, casual S-1 three seater couch by Percival Lafer would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Post-Modern, Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.

CONDITION:
Excellent vintage condition. Rosewood frame was refinished. One area of prior repair on lower bar. Leather was cleaned, conditioned and restored with color matched leather dye in a few areas that could use it. Areas of age still slightly visible under refinish. Leather with attractive light patina. Original fabric sling that the leather cushions sit on top of has age related wear, fading and staining. Very attractive, ready for immediate use in a high-end location.
