This 'Coclea' table (also known as Pétales) is a breathtaking and innovative solution which transforms from cocktail table to dining table with a push of a button, designed by Fabrizio Cocchia & Gianfranco Fini for Luigi Sormani (Italy), and distributed by Maison Jansen in the 1970s.
This geometric form table features four adjustable surfaces (petals) that rise via mechanized steel rods for dining height use, single buttons on each side are used to release the platform so that it can rise to its full height. Beautiful black lacquered surfaces throughout making this a breathtaking focal point in any sitting room its placed.
This Coclea / Pétales table by Fabrizio Cocchia & Gianfranco Fini for Luigi Sormani and distributed by Maison Jansen would work great in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
