Paul Frankl Combed Wood and Pebble Glass Dining Table, circa 1950Automaton Vintage Furnishings
Vastly proportioned dining table by Paul Frankl. This boldly designed table features a broad plinth-like base consisting of two rectangular legs with red combed wood and black finish. The top consists of a cut-out square design, also in black, and supports a generously sized piece of thick glass with a pebble surface. The usage of color, materials and texture of this piece provides a unique and visually interesting combination which would make this table a showstopper in any space.
The current pebbled glass, while does look nice, overhangs the frame slightly. We would advise, for a cover-photo worthy room, to replace with a thick glass with a light smoke tint that is sized flush with the frame. The first image in the slide shows the table without the current glass top so that you can better envision what this could look like.
This eye-catching piece would be a great addition as part of a classic, contemporary, Postmodern or Mid-Century Modern living room, dining room or kitchen. It would also serve well as a conference table or office desk and is an apt choice for a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium.
