Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen Model 311 Extendable Dining Table, 1950s
This beautifully refinished Model 311 teak extendable dining table by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for Søborg Møbler, designed in 1956, comes with a single leaf and is stamped on the underside of both the table and the leaf. Features an elegant round top with attractive teak graining supported by turned and tapered legs. Newly refinished and ready for immediate use.
This teak Mid-Century Modern dining table is the perfect staple for any modern dining room. Expandable with a single leaf bringing the overall width to 70.5", and very spacious depth of 47.25", this table can comfortably seat four (4) when collapsed and six (6) people when extended (see pics with 6 Moller Model 71 dining chairs, also available for purchase as a set).
Refinished and ready for immediate use, pieces like this were made with high quality materials and craftsmanship that you don't find in todays manufacturing. This table, with proper care and maintenance, can last another 60+ years... don't make the mistake of spending more money on inferior products made in recent years, and make the right decision to buy this table instead.
This teak extendable dining table would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Post-Modern, Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
