Steve Chase Lacquered Goatskin Desk, circa 1970Automaton Vintage Furnishings
A large, exquisite lacquered goatskin desk created by iconic designer and Palm Springs resident Steve Chase. Luxurious and down-right gorgeous, this is the quintessential desk for a Chief Designer's office.
Acquired from a Laguna Beach private estate, the elegant curves of this desk can be displayed at any angle and would benefit from being positioned in a central space to be fully appreciated. The right side has three drawers, progressing in size and the bottom is fitted to store files in. The left side features a gracefully curved cupboard with two shelves, perfect for stashing office items - including that Nate Berkus gold stapler! The lacquered goatskin surface appears a marble-like, with luminous hues of peach, salmon, pink, cream and dusted rose. Chrome pulls are used throughout.
This stunning desk would be Apt in both a residential or corporate setting, or could even be optimized as a vanity, paired with a velvet-covered stool. It would also be Apt as a members club or hotel check-in desk or in cocktail lounge reception area.
