Billy Wilder Chaise Lounge by Ray & Charles Eames for Herman Miller
A handsome and well cared for example of the Billy Wilder chaise lounge by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller. In soft and supple high-quality black leather on a dark color base. This example produced in late 1980s and in very good vintage condition with soft patina. Comes with both bolster pillows that can be used for the head, under the legs, back or feet of the napper, which is great since often vintage examples are missing these.
While Wilder was filming on location he would take short naps on a plank held up by sawhorses and approached his friends the Eameses to design a narrow office couch. In 1968 the Eames chaise was introduced, giving the first one to Wilder.
This slender bench features six foam cushions upholstered in the original high-quality black leather with fabric sling which sits atop a sculptural frame and base. The chaise daybed comes with two loose lumbar pillows to support your head, back, neck, or legs. The chaise lounge features a gently sloping frame which supports the body in a relaxed, restful position, with the head and legs slightly raised.
