This incredible 'Delfi' dining table designed by Carlo Scarpa and Marcel Breuer is composed of two sculptural Carrara marble bases and a matching thick rectangular marble top which has inset pins that fit into the bases to increase the stability and security of the table, produced in Italy by Gavina.

The 'Delfi' table, which was part of the 'Ultrarazionale' collection, was born from a collaboration between two of the leading names in 20th century design. Carlo Scarpa, who designed 58 buildings and numerous furniture designs during his time, earning reputation for his mastery of detailing and bold use of materials. And Marcel Breuer, who built his name at the Bauhaus designing the Wassily and Cesca chairs, both became icons of mid-century design. The 'Delfi' table was designed around 1968 / 1969 and was based on a prior Rationalist model created by Marcel Breuer in the 1930s.

The incredible architectural details of the two monolithic sculptured legs are reminiscent of classical Roman architecture, while the entirety of the design juxtaposes with Modern sensibility. This 'Delfi' white Cararra marble dining or conference table would work great in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
