First Year Production "Three-Seat Sofa" by Charles Eames for Herman Miller, 1984

This is an exclusive opportunity to acquire a near mint, extremely rare and highly desirable custom ordered first-year production "Three-Seat Sofa" by Charles and Ray Eames - ideal for any designer looking to wow their discerning clients with the best of the best.

Originally designed in 1984, the three-seat sofa and the two-seat sofa (2 Seat Sofa) was the Eames's last design before Charles's death and put into production in 1984. This was acquired from a home where the owner was the original buyer and cared for it extremely well.

Featuring two floating walnut backrest panels across all three seats which retain the original quality rich dark brown leather upholstery (which is so dark that it almost looks black) on the soft pad cushions.

Unlike the regular production of the Eames 3 Seat Sofa, the frame on this model is powder coated charcoal instead of the more commonly seen chrome versions. Speaking with a Herman Miller product manager, we confirmed these darker finished bases were only made in small numbers for custom orders in the first year making this a rare example indeed.
