Mastercraft Asian Inspired Brass Lounge Chair by Charles Pengally, c. 1970 Italy
This beautiful lightly patinated brass slipper chair by Mastercraft is signed underneath with Made in Italy label. This gorgeous empress chair by Mastercraft shares design cues with James Mont with its asian influences, designed by Charles Pengally for Weiman and distributed through Mastercraft in the 1970's.
The subtle curves of this pair of brass armchairs and simple linear clarity of the frame features a gracefully curved back extending to the arms which end in curled hand holds reminiscent of a ram's horns.
This Mastercraft brass club chair would work great in a Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a side chair, cafe, game or breakfast table chair, bedside chair, fireside chair, dressing or changing room chair, hallway chair, entryway or mudroom chair, nursing or reading chair, conference or meeting room chair, office chair, guest chair, lobby chair, easy chair or occasional chair ideal in virtually any setting.
