Pair of Philip and Kelvin LaVerne Bronze and Pewter Side Tables, Signed, 1960s

Highly sought after and fantastic examples of Philip and Kelvin LaVerne etched bronze and pewter end tables, both are signed on the top, designed and produced by father and son team in the 1960s.

The clever use of contrasting surfaces and textures is most unusual and adds dimension to the exotic design. Both tables float on 4 spherical balls that sit atop legs that mimic the Chin Ying coffee tables with chinoiserie styling. The design on the tabletop is the same pattern as found on the highly sought after Laverne credenza. Both occasional tables have a leaf design in the center and Philip and Kelvin LaVerne signatures.

Condition is a large factor when valuating a Laverne piece. They are intentionally made to look aged however condition issues can affect the value if it detracts from the artistry of the work such as issues with enameling or patination. Therefore we recommend comparing condition when selecting a table for purchase.

This particular example is in very good condition with no major issues or flaws. The colors and etched designs are bright and vivid, no structural issues or flaws. Slight wear such as light scratching and oxidation (patina) is noticeable upon inspection. We estimate this to be a 7 out of 10 in condition. This was clearly a well cared for example and is a prime candidate for a collector or high value client.

The intricate craftsmanship of this eye-catching piece would be a great addition as part of a Classic, contemporary or Mid-Century Modern living room, den, man (or woman!) cave, family room, office or bedroom.
